JAXA observes global precipitation with high accuracy and high frequency under the Global Precipitation Measurement mission which is an international network of satellites. For the Goal 6 “Clean water and sanitation”, JAXA offers global rainfall maps in real time. The map is provided as “GSMaP” based on data from multiple satellites over the world. In the southern pacific island area, rainwater is an important freshwater resource. GSMaP is used to monitor information on precipitation around the island.
