Pia Infante is Trustee and Co-Executive Director of The Whitman Institute (TWI), an independent foundation that leverages trust based philanthropy for social, political and economic equity. Ms. Infante leads the foundation’s advocacy efforts and grantmaking priorities. As Trustee, Ms. Infante helps oversee mission-aligned investing and the financial stewardship of the endowment towards its spend out, slated for completion in 2022.

Ms. Infante draws on decades of multi-sector experience as an educator, facilitator, organizational consultant, executive coach, non-profit manager, business owner, writer and speaker to serve as a facilitative leader of the TWI board and network.

Ms. Infante has designed programs and facilitated in many settings. Recent engagements, centering trust based philanthropy, include Grantmakers for Effective Organization’s Golden Gate Learning Series, IDEX Academy, Web of Change, University of Vermont’s Sustainable Leadership Masters Program, and Opportunity Collaboration. She is currently on the planning committee for Grantmakers for Effective Organization’s Leading Change 2017 Conference and Facilitator of Solidaire’s 2017 Member Retreat.

Ms. Infante has spoken on trust based philanthropy and values based leadership at Harvard Kennedy School: Center for Public Leadership, Ashoka Future Forum, International Human Rights Funders Group, The Institute on Inequality and Democracy at UCLA’s Luskin School, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, Fast Forward, Net Impact, Foundation Center, Latino Community Foundation, Council on Foundations, and Grantmakers for Effective Organizations.

In a volunteer capacity, Ms. Infante serves as the Board Chair for the Center for Media Justice and provides bro bono coaching to emerging women of color leaders. She is an I.C.F. certified executive leadership coach, holds a M.A. in Education from the New School for Social Research, and a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley.

Changemakers from around the globe and across all sectors gather each year in Oxford, England for the Skoll World Forum to share new ideas, new perspectives, and ultimately, new relationships built on trust and a mutual desire for human progress. Over the span of one week, this community tackles the thorniest challenges through the lens of social entrepreneurship. With their drive, creativity, and leadership, these innovators work tirelessly to create equilibrium change towards a more just, sustainable and prosperous world.
